Incorporate Wedding Poetry into the Ceremony and Reception

When planning their wedding, it’s likely that a bride and groom would want to include some wedding poetry into their special day. While many brides and grooms choose to write their own vows, others need some help to express their love and commitment; this is when wedding poetry can play a very important role. There are two distinct parts of a wedding - the ceremony and reception – and either of these times is excellent to use wedding poetry.

Ceremony

Wedding poetry is often used during the ceremony. Some brides and grooms will incorporate it into their vows. Another great way to use wedding poetry is to have a friend or family member read a special poem before the vows. This is also a great way to make that special friend or family member participate in the wedding as opposed to being a bridesmaid or groomsman.

The poem may be something special to the couple or it may be chosen by the reader as an expression of how they feel about the couple and their relationship. Regardless of who reads it or when it is read, wedding poetry is an excellent addition to any wedding ceremony. It helps the bride and groom to truly express their love for one another.

Reception

The reception is another great time to incorporate wedding poetry. There are many people who will stand up and make a speech and toast the bride and groom. Some may choose to use wedding poetry to express their thoughts. The bride and groom may also ask a friend or family member to read a specific poem during the reception as opposed to during the ceremony. This is also a good time for the bride and groom to express their gratitude to the guests for attending the wedding and once again to share their sentiments for each other. Wedding poetry is perfect to say the things that may not come so easily to mind. Poets have a way with words and wedding poetry is beautiful!

When a bride and groom are engrossed in wedding planning, it is important for them to plan every aspect of the wedding, especially the words they will say to one another. Wedding poetry is a wonderful addition to either ceremony or reception because it helps to share the most beautiful sentiments of love. Even if the groom isn’t into poetry of any sort, he can play along for the sake of his bride-to-be and their life together.
